We made it!!!!!

Day 6 our final day started in sunny Ayr, where we were joined by Bannatyne member Lorna Johnston for the final part of our adventure!

The route was hilly to start and then we had rolling hills all the way!

Unfortunately the weather changed just as we were having lunch and as a result we ended the challenge the way we began with cold wind and rain!!!

However we got the job done and are now happily home, reflecting on an amazing 6 days and contemplating our next big adventure..........

Day 5-Falkirk to Ayr via Stepps

Another great day today!! Can't believe we only have 1 day to go!!!!

The troops came out in force today with a huge crowd joining us at the Boathouse to join us for our run to Stepps!!

The day started in Falkirk with a scone and a wee stop at Halfords for some brake blocks. We then cycled the 10+ miles to the Boathouse.

Despite thinking we would struggle with the run, our friends pushed us on and we completed in great time.

Lunch and change at Stepps and then we set off for Ayr, with a surprise guest Chris Craig joining us for the ride.

Passing Royal Troon and the sight of Arran we pushed hard and got to Ayr for 6 where we were met by the team at Bonmarche Ayr. We then launched some balloons, which the Bannatyne team had sold to support our funds!!

The day was capped off with dinner with the family at Frankie and Bennys!!!

Bed time now and this time tomorrow it will be all over and we will be home in our own beds!!

Some pics so far!

Day 4-Dunfermline-Edinburghx2-Livingston-Falkirk

The boys were joined at Dunfermline this morning by Bannatyne's very own Regional Manager, Paul Johnson who was joining the cycle for the day!!

Set up with a nice bowl of porridge (the first of the trip!! Well done and thanks to Will).  The boys set off and over the spectacular Forth Road Bridge.

It was a day of contrasts with city cycling around Edinburgh, then a relaxing cycle along the Forth Canal to Livingston before a good old push for home through the country side and into Falkirk.

Des had his first fall (apparently due to Paul cutting him up!!!) but all in all the day was a huge success, fuelled with the many cakes and pastries en route at the various Bannatyne Health Clubs along the way.

The aches and pains are starting to build and both are suffering with achilles problems, although not enough to stop the boys completing this momentous challenge!

Day 3-Perth to Dunfermline run

The boys were looking forward to resting their butts and having a run today!! However a wee 10k would have been fine!! Unfortunately the challenge ahead was a 30 mile run, including some decent climbs out of Perth!!

The weather was perfect, although the cold wind was still blowing in our faces!!! Maybe one day it will be at our back!!

We managed to keep moving at a decent pace and even walked whilst eating to make sure the miles kept ticking by without wasting any time!

It was definitely our toughest physical challenge so far, reflected in the almost 4000 calories we burnt!!! Calories weren't the only thing burnt though-Des's legs and Sean's nose both took a roasting!!!

Anyway we made it and even found a few short cuts bringing the mileage under 29 miles!!!!

A wee back massage at Bannatynes and dinner at Carlucci's helped ease the pain but the boys are starting to walk like John Wayne!! Achilles and quads are all suffering, but what the heck it's for a good cause!!

Anyway highlight of the day was when we were driving home from dinner and randomly saw a peacock walking down the street!!! (photo to follow!!!)

Day 2 Aberdeen to Perth

A much better day weather wise with no rain and some sunshine! The wind was still cold at times but all in all 100% better than day 1. (Des even managed to get sun burnt legs, although we are not sure how!)

95 miles covered including a 1500 ft climb over Cairn O' Mount-spectacular views and challenging but hugely rewarding!!

Yet again the guys at Bannatyne's looked after us and we finished the day with a leg massage, jacuzzi and a sauna!!!

We then topped up the 3000 calories we burnt at the Toby cavery washed down with a couple of pints!!

Sleep is now the main priority, although we get a long lie tomorrow as we are not starting our 35 mile run until 9am!!! Can't believe we are actually looking forward to the run but it will be good to give our pelvic bones and back a rest!!!!
